Sashimi grade fish?

Is there any place locally that sells fresh sashimi grade fish? I have seen the chopped up blocks at Grand Mart and also a few bits at a Japanese grocer in Bethesda. However nothing locally has really knocked my socks off to date. I'm not looking for anything in particular (doesn't have to be toro), just fresh is fine.

Thanks in advanced for any replies.

  1. Mutual Fish in the Rainier Valley

    1. seattle, right? was hoping for something a little more local (to DC/Baltimore) but thanks for the recommendation. i might try ordering from them one day if you have had positive experiences?

      1. If I recall correctly, Blacksalt Restauran's fish counter carries sushi/sashimi grade fish. There was a beautiful piece of tuna one of the last times I went. The restaurant is in DC on MacArthur Ave.

        Cocinero Cubano

        1. thank you for this recommendation. i just sent an email asking. appreciated!

          1. Hinata Japanese Grocery and Carryout, 4947 St. Elmo Ave, Bethesda, MD, sells sushi grade fish by the pound. I have not bought in bulk there myself, but if it is as good as the sushi, and I am sure it is, it should be great. Great tuna, great toro, great yellow tail. I would pass on the uni. I miss Makado's grocery on Wisconsin Ave after all of these years.
