Hyderabad--looking for rec's, no hotel restaurants please!

My second trip to Hyderabad is upcoming and I am looking for more places for great down-home meals. I've eaten at a couple of local restaurants there, as well as Dakshin at the Sheraton--that was great, but I prefer to get out of the hotels. Anyone local to the area have any suggestions?

  1. hey... try bawarchi and paradise.... they are really great

    1. Can you tell me (roughly) where these are located? I have a feeling that I went to Paradise last time I was there, but I'm not sure.

      1. OK, having now made the trip, I can report back on where I went. Incredibly, I somehow managed to get invited to dinner out with the MP for Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi. There were six of us in the party, and we went out to one of the MP's favorite places in town, "4 Seasons". All the food was pre-ordered according to his wishes, so I didn't see the menu, but we had some great stuff--two kinds of biryani, a mutton curry, fantastic spicy fried shrimp, plus some more Hyderabadi and Lebanese dishes (the place does Lebanese and, I think, Chinese in addition to Andhra cuisine). I didn't get a business card from the restaurant so can't give the address, but it was somewhere in the southeast part of central Hyderabad. Worth a try, for sure. Eating dinner with a very important local politician also ensures good service!
