Maya -- festive for a weekday birthday lunch?

Hi all,

I'm taking my friend out to celebrate a birthday tommorrow and thought of Maya. I've never been, and I don't think she has so thought it would be fun. Is it festive at lunch? (Basically, just don't want to go somewhere dead).

I like Maya, but I have to agree it's not festive and for a b-day it would be dry.

I'm so glad I asked. Thank you all! It would have been a dud. I thought of Town Hall which would be perfect, but we've been there together for lunch and I wanted something we hadn't done.

I learned she was craving a good salad so I learned of Coco500 on this site. I decided on The House, because I love the food. We'll have another gathering with another friend next week so hopefully Coco500 will work. I'm very curious about this place. I hope The House isn't dead.

I had lunch there a few weeks ago and wasn't particularly impressed. The room was quiet, and my chicken mole was only okay. Amazingly, they served it with burned rice! You might consider Coco 500, which has a nice atmosphere at lunch (it's at 4th and Brannan).

Maya is nice, but usually pretty quiet at lunch. You might try Town Hall instead (same neighborhood).
