Has anybody been to this new place on Broadway/Grand/Harrison/22nd St. intersection? If I don't hear by tomorrow around 5, we're going to get some to go.

Would rather be chicken and have another hearty soul try it out. Get it? "Chicken"?? Huh? Huh?

i was just there and it was pretty good, although i think i like popeye's fried chicken better

however, the catfish was excellent, the cook really knows how to deepfry fish, it was crispy on the outisde and tender, moist and flaky on the inside, much better than the local competition at spicy bite

i also liked the hot water cornbread

the mac and cheese was so-so

? I don't really think of Spicy Bite as local competition to this place (well perhaps for me, since I work three blocks from one and live three blocks from the other, but not for most folks). Unless there is a Spicy Bite in Oakland?

Ah, Quick Bite. I've never managed to go there. They usually have large lines, though, and prices look quite cheap (for some things).

What are the prices like at LFC?

the prices at LFC are reasonable

i believe 3.49 for 2 pieces of dark chicken, a fountain soda, a roll, and 1 side

3.99 for a breast and wing, fountain soda, roll and 1 side

you can sub out the boring roll for the hotwater cornbread for an additional 20 cents (which i reccommend)

they also have 3 piece fish meals which start at 6.49 for the snapper and 8.49 for the catfish i believe

or you can add a piece of fish for 2.29 to a chicken meal

but as for quick bite, i used to love going there because the food was decent and they would give you a mountain of it, but it was all deep fried so i stopped going after awhile (i never got the potato salad), but they also include a soda and bread with your meal -- if you do go there, i reccommend the rib tips

Walked by there on my way home to pick up a menu. There were two people eating there, one ordering, and three more coming in as I left (well, it *was* 5:30pm on a Friday).

Their combos include chicken, roll, side, and 16oz drink. $5/5.50 for 2pc chicken, $6/6.50 3pc, $8 4pc (prices vary depending on what parts you want). $1.50 less if you just want the chicken.

Fish combos are: red snapper 3pc $6.50, 5pc $9; catfish 3pc $8.50, 5pc $11; shrimp 5pc $7, 10pc $10. They don't seem to offer non-combo fish, except you can add 1pc fish to any chicken combo for a whopping $2.30.

Smelled good (fried chickeny but not greasy), looked clean.

I wasn't going to post, but here goes: Hubby and I went on Saturday 16 April @ around 3:00 p.m. We ordered two combination dinners: a 3-piece chicken dinner (the breast, wing and leg) w/ cole slaw and roll, and a 5 piece shrimp dinner w/ greens and roll. Each meal came w/ a 16 ounce soda (1 free refill). I ordered an additional hot water cornbread and macaroni-and-cheese side dish. After about 15 minutes, the order came up. My order seemed wrong when I picked it up at the counter; all I noticed was that I was missing a bread, which they gave me--a cornbread. I couldn't figure out the rest until I took it to the table and inventoried what we had. The staff had placed my order of greens on hubby's chicken meal and replaced the originally ordered roll w/ the cornbread, which was all on a 3-sectioned plate. The cole slaw was in its own lidded styrofoam dish. A large paper holder held french fries and 3 large strips of what turned out to be chicken and a dinner roll. I realized that I received the wrong order and took it to the counter. The staff replaced it w/ a small paper holder that held 5 tightly curled, skimpy, lonely looking shrimp in a nest of waxed paper. Upon returning to the table, I realized that I was also missing the macaroni-and-cheese. When I returned to the counter, the woman (who is VERY cordial), told me that they weren't ready yet and that she would bring them out to me. They arrived shortly after that, along w/ 5 more shrimp that the man placed in front of me with a smile and a "here's some more shrimp for you." I think the confusion over the orders is just opening week kinks.

Hubby wasn't too pleased: he liked the soda, tartar sauce (plastic packets) and the mural on the wall. He also remarked that he never knew there was such a thing as "watery macaroni-and-cheese." It WAS inferior mac-and-cheese, and the shrimp was disappointing (dry and overcooked). The whole order came to $16.00 plus change.

However, I liked the chicken--moist breast meat and crisply fried wing. I thought the cole slaw and greens were good. Having said that, I'd rather go to Tuttle's on Bancroft for a similar meal.

I stopped there on the way home the other night and ate dinner there. I ordered the 3 piece chicken and asked them if they could split my side - 1/2 "Mema's Mac and Cheese" and some greens.
What struck me first was the annoyingly small plastic knives and forks - KFC has them beat on the cutlery and plates. Also, they had sauce packets for the red sauce - some watery tasteless brand (I think it was Crystal). Where is Frank's Hot Sauce when you need it? KFC again beats them on this front. Their packets of hot sauce are tangy, rich, and satisfy.
One would think they could just get bottles of this stuff and blow off the squeese packs.
While they are at it they could also get some bigger plastic cutlery. I felt like I was sitting down to a pretend party with my sister using her toy tea set.

Soooo...
They gave me my food - the roll or cornbread was missing - I don't remember which I asked for.
for whatever reason I didn't bother to ask them for my rightful portion of bread. I wondered if it was because I got an extra (albeit half sized) second portion. I was feeling somewhat beaten down and meek so I let it go.

The chicken was very high quality meat - not fatty at all with a heavy crust & slightly spicy . It was deep fried - I prefer pan fried and then finished in
the oven but I guess that's not "Louisianna style". The breast was humongous. I should have just ordered the 2 piece meal. Popeye's and KFC use horrifc chicken - eating it can be very gross - way too fatty. LFC chicken could even have been a little fattier - TBH, it was a tad dry and lacked some flavor but overall - that was some good bird.
As for the sides: Mema forgot to use any cheese in the Mac and Cheese and must also must have run out of salt. That was easily the worst Mac and Cheese I ever had. I would not have been able to pick it out of a Mac & Cheese lineup. I am not sure what they were thinking.
The greens were ok - a little matted down but tasted ok.
The soda machine made some very fine Root Beer but I would have preferred something bottled.

All in all, LFC is trying to be more than a fast food joint but seems to be using the tools of chain fast food - sauce packets, cheap plastic cutlery.
I imagine they will nail down the Mac & Cheese issue - opeing jitters perhaps. It was so far removed from what ANYONE considers Mac & Cheese that it has to be a goof up - Lousianna is far away but even there - Mac & Cheese is recognizable.
I might go back - maybe I would try the fish next time.
The french fries looked interesting.
