Marmite/Vegemite
Does anyone know where I can buy Marmite or Vegemite in Queens? Have been searching the International Foods section of my local grocery in Astoria but haven't had any luck.

I used to live in Astoria and remember seeing it on a regular basis, but I don't remember where. There were a couple of grocery stores that had a few shelves catering to the small Irish community. Maybe the Cyprus Deli on 30th Ave.?
If it's not there, ask someone at the Irish Rover. Wherever you find British candy bars, you should find Vegemite or Marmite.

Although Vegemite isn't being imported by Kraft, the FDA hasn't banned it, see http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/v...
Marmite should be easy to find though.

You might want to try Woodside or Sunnyside, where there are substantial Irish communities (I know Marmite is British, but the Irish eat it too). They'll probably have it where there is demand for it. I see Marmite all over the place, but I'm based in Manhattan...Vegemite I haven't seen very often.
