Crabs, not too pricey, downtown

Hi there... I have a craving for crabs and live in the Union Square / East Village area. I don't have much of a preference for preparation (Asian, Maryland-style, whatever) or variety (soft shell, hard shell), so long as they are very tastey. Also, I'd rather not pay an arm and a leg. Thoughts?

  1. if you're down for the concrete-trek, i'd suggest hop kee on mott street in chinatown. they've got crab cantonese that awesome. just ask them to crack the crabs for you too, makes it easier to break and eat.

    1. One of my favorites is the Spicy Salted Crab In Special Sauce at Congee Village on Allen St. According to menupages its $10.95, which seems about right in my recollection.

      1. I like the salt-baked softshell crabs at Noodletown. Oriental Garden also has good softshell crabs in black bean sauce.
