This is so funny, but I ate in the Ristorante Max in Positano last May when I visited. It was good, but not as good as some of the other restaurants in Positano/Montepertuso (sp?). We just moved home to the OC and I hear about the branch here. I'm anxious to try it and see how it stacks up. After travelling through Italy and having real Italian food these last 2+ years, I am dreading the awful Italian food here at home. No wonder I used to hate pastas before we moved to Europe! I'll post my review after I try the NB Max's.

The review in the TImes didn't mention all that many seafood dishes, which I expected from chefs with a restaurant in Positano, but your review is encouraging. Do they have anything like spaghetti alle fruitti de mare?

IYO what's the best Italian in coastal OC these days, if any? We've reached beyond OC to Christy's in LB, but hope something closer might merit our attention.
