re: deek
We ended up going to Gyu Kaku for my friends birthday. We all love the food there but had never gone with such a large group. It was terrible. The service sucked. My boyfriend and I never got our mushroom medeley and at the end of the night the bill was a mess. Thank you so much for your recommendations though. I will definitely try those places in the future.

I just had a birthday party for a group of 15 or so at Cha Cha Cha in West Hollywood. They have a Silverlake location too but the West Hollywood one has a full bar. It was great because some people were able to get dinner and others just had snacks, plus people could sort of come and go when it was convenient and there were plenty of bars for us to move to later in the evening. The staff was great and the the drinks and food appeal to a wide range of tastes. The price points are good for a diverse group as well. Have a great birthday!

I just had a birthday party with 14 people at Messob, an Ethiopian place on Fairfax. The food there is great, the service is great, and the very social nature of eating from a common plate with your hands makes for a good party.
That said, can you give us more guidance on the location, price range, type of food, etc.?
