Looking for the best Chinese Noodle Beef Soup

I remember eating great chinese noodle beef soups in Taiwan in the street food stands. The noodle beef soup had a good taste of beef broth with some heat/spices, and there's a condiment on the side of chopped pickled vegetable that you can add onto the soup.

I found some pictures online:

Does it sound familiar? Does anyone know where to go for this kind of noodle soup in the Bay Area? Will travel far for food...

Half a year? Sounds like the movie Tampopo..

I'll go try it all this weekend.

    Thanks for your input!

In the city, go to Tea Garden on Mission/2nd. The woman spent half a year learning in the night markets of southern Taiwan, and it shows.

This topic has been covered fairly extensively already (search for beef noodle soup).

I generally eat at Cupertino Village at A&J's which is a chain from SoCal, I believe.

A&J's is actually a Taiwan-based chain. In Taiwan I believe it is called Ban Mu Yuan (半畝園).

            A&J = Ban Mu Yuan

Also, the A&J up here has no relationship to the chain in SoCal other than ripping off the name. My friend's mom owns the one in Irvine. Vastly inferior to the SoCal chains.

I prefer the Beef Noodle Soup at Queen House in Mountain View. Bring cash.
