So I Stumbled Into Yet Wah ...

for Dim Sum, on outer Clement. the place near Four Star theater. First time ever--for Dim Sum, I mean. Had my four year old girl and my one year old girl, mommy off resting from NYEve, everyone hungry. We had a great time, I enjoyed the food, and here's what I want to know: how does this place rate in the SF Dim Sum scene? Did I get a representative Dim Sum experience?

I think Yet Wah has very good dim sum, and I especially love the restaurant on Clement Street. Great Almond Duck, and they have another fantastic duck dish, although I forgot the name of it...it's with bell peppers and onions, in a spicy sauce. And they have the BEST pot stickers and fried chicken wings.

I remember once(many years ago, in Marin) having a really good curry at Yet Wah and asking what was in it and they said banana was the thickener. Could this be true?

I enjoyed that Yet Wah way back when I lived in SF. A few years ago I tried the Yet Wah in downtown San Rafael and found it a poor shadow of the original (and I've heard similar stories from others).

Same goes for the Diamond Heights location: avoid. But we've always enjoyed the dim sum at the Clement location.

I like it, we like it. They can make anything you want but don't see on the d/s menu. Great service. You don't hear much about YW because people are too busy pouncing on Ton Kiang The Hated For Whatever The Reason, only a block away.
