Wings

Looking for a good place to pick-up/have delivered wings for the games today. Any recommendations for places? Live in South End but will drive.

i'll throw my vote in for the Sunset Bar & Grill (and the Sunset Cantina) wings. they've got a unique buffalo sauce which has a touch of sweetness (brown sugar?) and come to the table hot-n-crispy.

The wings at Bison County in Waltham are awesome! A drive for sure but I bet they reheat really well. They serve fresh, whole chick wings.

By the by, I love the Wings and the Coolidge Corner Clubhouse. Whole chicken wings instead of those wingeette portions you usually get.

I found the whole-wing really difficult to eat (it has the tip and everything!). Plus, the wings weren't fried quite long enough to make them easily edible.

Di Pietro's on Highland Ave. in Malden advertises the BEST WINGS ON THE PLANET. Never tried them, though...reports?

I've never had the wings at Di Pietro's in Malden but I have had their pizza. I didn't like their pizza.

the Di Pietro's wings are good in a pinch, but I wouldn't go out of my way for them. i tend to like my wings on the crunchy side and my sauce similar to the original Anchor Bar recipe. Di Pietro's wings are cooked the minimal amount and get too soggy minutes after the sauce is introduced...and the sauce is more tabasco-based than Anchor Bar's.

Agreed- I thought DiPetro's wings were good but not what I was looking for.

I would do Wing It over Wings over Brookline. I was very dissappointed in WOB.

Buff's Pub in Newton Corner is an easy two-exit drive down the Pike from the South End, and worth it for what I consider the best wings in town. I prefer the Buffalo style for which this place is named, but their honey wings are also very good.

Thanks! I will definitely call them. How do they hold up?

I personally don't think wings have to be fresh-from-the-fryer hot to be good, though obviously they're better that way. You can always refresh them in the oven on a baking sheet with a foil tent (better than nuking).

I think they are closed? Any thoughts on Wing it or Wings over Brookline?
