Coral Seafood Worcester

Had lunch there the other day. It's a new place, I think. The atmosphere was really nice. The food was good, but I wish they had more creative dishes there. While the quality of the fish was good, they serve it in the most generic styles. Broiled, sauteed (with a choice os sauce), fried, etc.

The lack of variety was disappointing.

We tried Coral in December and were disappointed. The room is very interesting if a bit too "open." The bar is a nice place to have a drink before dinner. But the menu was very uninteresting. My tuna was so overcooked as to be inedible, and they only had one vegetable (squash, which was fine) available as a side dish apart from potatoes. I saw lots of people happily eating platters of fried seafood, and I think that's their strong suit.

I've eaten at their Marlborough outpost. I agree...not very well executed. If you want a truly wonderful seafood meal, head across the street to Pearl Oyster. I ate there last week and everything was outstanding, with excellent service in a warm atmosphere (I find Coral rather cold).

This place moved from Green St. It is a Worcester institution. I remember the specials being more creative than their regular menu. I had a grilled swordfish caesar salad. Very good.
