Portuguese in Tampa Bay?
Hi folks -
My seriously foodie family is moving to Tampa this summer. I have already fallen in love with Mi Mexico, the West Tampa Sandwich Shop, and China Yuan. I am curious if there is such a thing as Portuguese food in Tampa or nearby. I'd be interested in Portuguese restaurants, as well as in good sources for Portuguese groceries. Internet searches turn up nothing so my hopes are not high ... but you chowhound folks are wonderful sources of information. Thanks!

Wow, thanks to both of you, especially for the O Pescador find, which looks really authentic and was just the kind of thing I was hoping for. I'm a pretty good googler myself and didn't manage to find it at all.

Googling turned up O Pescador in St. Petersburg. The Portuguese portion of the menu is pretty short, but it's Portuguese all right. Garlic sauce, pork and clams, bacalhau...

There is a little Portuguese grocery in St. Petersburg next to El Toro Negro Mexican restaurant on 54th street. It has very little in it, and I don't know what the requisite items are for Portuguese food but it is run by a very nice couple, proud of their heritage. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the store and live in Tampa so I rarely go in the vicinity. Hope that's somewhat helpful.
