Atlanta - Need restaurant near Perimeter Mall

Andiereid Dec 31, 2006 12:48 AM

I posted this earlier, but no reply. Thought I would try by adding Atlanta in the heading.

I'm meeting my mom, brother and his wife are meeting me in Atlanta in two weeks. They're staying at the W hotel there near Perimeter mall. What's really good right around there? I'll have a car, so it doesn't have to be walking distance, but I don't want to haul all the way downtown, either.

It's not immediately next to the mall, but 5 Season Brewery is about 10 minutes away, and is the best brew-pub in Atlanta. Great beers, and they have a strong focus on local, organic ingredients. Terrific grilled pizzas, and they always have 6-8 unique daily, seasonal specials. Worth the drive if the idea interests you.

Ate at Chequers there (right near Marriott hotel) several months ago and thought it excellent because of the happy hour dinner specials (low price appetizers which were more like main courses: mussels, lobster, etc.) Worth checking out.

Seasons 52 or Mckendricks. Both right near the Mall.

La Grotta is great too. What hotel is that in?

Another great neighborhood restaurant that's not too far from there, and definitely worth the drive, is Haven Restaurant in Brookhaven. Owned by past Buckhead Life manager - food and service are wonderful and it's got a great atmosphere. Not too fancy, not too casual. You will definitely want to make reservations. You can check out their info at www.havenrestaruant.com. Only about 10 min from Perimter Mall area and not all the way into Buckhead, so it would be an easy drive.

I think that there is a Pappadeaux's cajun seafood restaurant about 10 minutes from there. They have excellent grilled or blackened fish with decadent sauces available to top it off. Check out their website for locations and menus. http://www.pappadeaux.com/

Update on original post - since we were staying at the W hotel, we ate one night at Season 52 and the other night at Wildfire. We enjoyed both. Season 52 was not as good (to me) as Wildfire. I ordered their venison and it was all right, but nothing special. My SIL had one of their flatbreads, however, and it was quite good. My brother's entree was OK, but his tabbouleh was really good. Decent wine list, friendly service, but not over the top.

The food at Wildfire we thought was a little better. We split their small caesar salad four ways and there was more than enough for all of us. I had chops with mushrooms, which were cooked perfectly and very good. Their scalloped potatoes for a side were excellent. The wine was good the service was great, and for a chain, I was impressed. The prices were also good, I thought, for the food quality and service.

                  Thanks for the suggestions!
