Should I return/exchange this item or can someone out there report they use this tool in their kitchen?

I have one. It takes inhuman strength to close it over an entire half onion, but it does a lovely job of smaller pieces, and works fast. As advertised, it makes uniform 1/4" dice of most choppable things. I've used it on onions, peanuts, and napa cabbage (for potstickers). You do need the cleaning tool to get the pieces of diced food from the prongs (the part that pushes the food through the grid) before putting the whole thing in the dishwasher. It does a faster job of dicing than a mandoline would, I think, and is great for times when you're trying to dice a whole lot of something. I like it.

I would return it and spend the money on a knife skill lesson. But that's just me.

Excellent idea, andreas. Thanks to both you and DebL.
