what to send for a sympathy gift?

ballulah Dec 30, 2006 05:33 PM

My very good friend's mother just passed away, and I'm looking for ideas for food to send to the house. I just called Tal Bagels and asked about a catering platter, and they were so rude I don't want to order from them. Fairway catering is more suitable for a party. I would just like to make sure that my friend has food in the house for her and her father to eat during this sad time, a mutual friend said that she was worried that there wasn't any food in the house to speak of. Any ideas and recommendations? They live on the UES in the 70's.

Eli's will have lots of choices and they are at 82nd/3rd. 212-717-8700. Here's a direct link even to their 'sympathy basket':

Thanks, chowNYC, funnily enough that occurred to me right after I posted...and I ordered their Salmon Basket.
