Good coffee roaster accessible for Aptos couple?

Looking for a local roasting company to recommend to friends who don't get out too much. They live in Aptos.

They like a medium roast Columbia Supremo. Right now they're drinking Superior (out of S.F.?)which isn't bad for restaurant coffee, but I'm sure there's something better locally.

Any suggestions? TIA

Well, your friends don't have to venture too far for locally-roasted coffee. Both in Aptos, there's Aptos Coffee Roasting in the Rancho del Mar Center next to Safeway and Pacific Coffee Roasting in the Aptos Center. Surf City Coffee is also in Aptos on Soquel near the Redwood Village area, but I'm not sure if they roast their own beans.

I personally recommend Aptos Coffee Roasting since they're affiliated w/ Santa Cruz Coffee Roasting and that's where I generally get my beans. I'm partial to their Beethoven's Blend and SC Full City. They can try a few different kinds from the brew bar (each cup is brewed to order) and decide for themselves.

      SC Roasting website: http://www.brewbar.com/

Edited to add: It looks like Surf City does roast their own beans and that Aptos is the original location. Here's their website: http://www.surfcitycoffee.com/

Do any hounds have opinions on Surf City since I'm not really familiar w/ them?

For whatever reason, I've never found a coffee at Surf City I really liked. Probably just a matter of personal taste, as a number of friends like them a lot.

I'll definitely second Aptos Coffee Roasting. Their Sweet Italian is our family's unanimous favorite.

I order from Santa Barbara Roasting company. They will mail anything from 1 pound and up. It's the best coffee. It is not a local roaster for your friends, but I am sure they will like it!
