Thai Spice Kitchen in Carson City - great Thai !

Located in a hidden corner across from Nugget, this was a find for sure. If you ever travel from/to Reno to South Tahoe, this place is a good stop

Fish Cake (Tod Mun Pla) had good taste and texture. The sauce is very well made with cucumber slices, red onion and peanuts.

Pad Thai is moist and excellent seasonings. Good version

Had the shrimp in coconut based broth. Lots of spices (lemongrass, etc). Large shrimps and flavorful. Quite good.

BBQ pork (Moo Yong) was not great and the first negative. The meat was a bit tough and probably the wrong cut for it.

The seafood salad is quite good. Tender calamari pieces and potent dressings. But my wife and sister did not enjoy it so much

This is a worthy place

The waiter was not that helpful in choosing the dishes (like most). I had to just guess them myself.

Yes, there's two Thai restaurants in the same block in Carson City. The other one (I think it's called The Basil) has nicer table and chairs and decorations but I think most Chowhounders would prefer the food at the Thai Spice kitchen. The street it is on is called Telegraph.
It shares a building with a sushi place so you have to make sure you get to the Thai place.

The prices at Thai Spice is probably half than the other more visible competitor.

What other dishes are recommended here ?

You've already had the pad thai. I usually stick to noodle dishes or order a special.
I also like their chicken-cocoanut soup. I can't remember the name -- Tom Ka Gai?
They usually do a good job with curry as well.
