I need to find a pork shoulder for New Year's Day. Last year I went to a pork store on 13th avenue in BK and they only had loins. Any suggestions?

Eagle Provisions on 5th Ave -18th St. Park Slpe pretty much always has pork shoulders. I would think most full service grocery stores do, too.

There are several old fashioned, Italian butchers in Hell's Kitchen on 9th Ave (between 34th and maybe 48th) that will have them. One that is just south of Port Authority is called the "Pork Store"...can't go wrong there.

I find pork shoulder at Stew Leonard's in Yonkers. I get a couple, slow BBQ outside, shred the meat and freeze to add sauce when we want pulled pork sandwiches.

We got pork shoulder today at Citarella on 3rd Ave. Very nice looking piece of meat . . . think it's actually closer to a blade roast than a classic shoulder, but very high quality nonetheless. It's $3.99 a pound . . . $17 or so for 4.5 pounds. That's about 2-3 times what I pay in Washington DC suburbs (Silver Spring) where I live, `picnic' shoulders may be more native to that region.
