Unfortunately, I get the plastic containers when I get take-out food from specialty food stores. Sometimes you can find them at your local hardware store. I don't know where you can purchase them other than buying a box of 1,000 from a wholesale paper goods supplier - and I'm sure that's more than you need! "
I on the other hand just go to my local Kitchen supply place [Surfas in Culver City CA] and get the Cambro Containers like this:
I've thrown out most of my plastic utensils and containers in the last couple of years.
For storing stocks and soups in the freezer, I use large-mouth Mason jars (2 quart size). For storing soups and stews in the fridge, I use stainless steel soup containers with full lids (the kind that you'd see in a buffet steam table). I buy them at restaurant supply stores. They hold about 5 quarts and take up vertical space in the fridge, rather than precious horizontal space.
I found them!!! At a store called Smart & Final. We have a bunch in California. Check out www.smartandfinal.com. These sell for about $5.90 for 25 32 oz. containers. The lids are about the same, but you get 50. So if you want a set of 50 containers, 50 lids, it would be about $18, far cheaper than I've seen someone trying to sell them for (2 for $4!!!).
