Saul or Dressler for birthday dinner

any thoughts? A simple one word answer will suffice.

Very disappointed in Saul. For all the raves on this Board, It was just okay. Okay food, okay service, middling decor, and loud music and noise level. Foie gras was rubbery, scallops entree was tiny, $28 for 3 scallops, sweetbreads were good, desserts were good.

Nothing to rave about or make a special trip. Kind of overpriced for what it is.

Me neither, but someone else said the same thing recently about Saul. So, either you and I are not as sensitive to the loudness as some others, or Saul turns up the volume occasionally when we're not around.

I've never been on a weekend night -- maybe it's quieter on weekdays?

Hey dkstar1: I'm assuming this happened already. So... where did you go and how was it?

I second mldanny--Saul is reliably awesome. I've been three times and loved every dish I tried, especially those involving seafood and pork. Nice, unpretentious service, too.

We've had many great meals at Saul. I still consider it one of the best in the area. Never been to Dressler, know nothing about it actually.

Convivium would be another great choice though, as would Al Di La. Or Chestnut.

                        1 word: Saul

6 words: $30 prix fixe during the week

                        3 words: second choice Applewood

                          Neither.

(Tempo or al di la or Henry's End?)
