Thanks kobetobiko. It was quite good. Unfortunately not the total dim sum experience that we were looking for (part of the deal was to introduce a five year old to dim sum) because there were no carts, just the menu. The food was pretty good though.

Hi gumnaam,
Sorry I didn't know that you wanted the cart dim sum experience. It would be quite tough to find a place with cart and serve vegetarian dim sum in Chinatown though, as I can't remember any dim sum places with carts that serve large variety of vegetarian dishes... And it is hard to avoid the accidental consumption of meat in those places.
If I can think of any places with cart and vegetarian options, I will definitely let you know!
Thanks! and Happy New Year!

re: gumnaam
As far as I can tell, Vegetarian Dim Sum House is the only such place in the entire U.S. This issue has come up on the L.A. and S.F. boards, and while dim sum restaurants with cart services may have vegetarian looking items, it's almost certain that there are meat products used in the preparation, e.g., chicken broth.

Vegetarian Dim Sum House in Chinatown (24 Pell Street) is your best bet. Everything (mostly dim sum) is vegetarian so there should be no accidental meat consumption. Dim Sum Go Go on 5 E Broadway (close to Chatham Sq) also serves a vegetarian dim sum platters and some veggie dim sum a la carte style. The servers there speak English so you can ask for details.
In terms of quality I prefer Dim Sum Go Go, but there will be less to choose from since it is not a vegetarian restaurant per se.
