Posh Nosh - absolutely fabulous

guttergourmet Dec 27, 2006 01:24 AM

Mrs. GG just turned me on to Posh Nosh, an old BBC series of 10 minute shorts which "savage" food lifestyle/cooking shows. Simply hysterical.

I love it--it sounds hilarious! Is it on BBC America?

Don't know if it's playing on the telly, but excerpts are available on the Beeb's website and I'm told episodes can be found via bitorrent. Now if you'll excuse me, I have coriander to exacerbate.

I just discovered it myself this morning (1/10/07) - it was playing at about 4:45 a.m. on KTEH, a PBS station out of San Jose, California. (BTW - I also caught, on Monday, an episode of the British version of The Office. Now I know why Ricky Gervais is considered comedy gold!)

OK...this made me laugh out loud:

"Children’s birthday parties: Now, you probably do what most people do -- go out and buy jam tarts, chocolate fingers, crisps, a shop-bought cake...and there’s *absolutely* NOTHING wrong with that if you don’t really love your children...."

I have to go home and savage some cucumbers and embarass a lemon.

Oh, and fans of the current Dr Who will want to check out the episode "Comfort Food" for a young David Tennant.

"Jig 100g of organic plain organic flour and a pinch of organic salt into an organic basin ..."

I fell across this show when it was tacked on the end of Jeeves and Wooster here in the SFO area. As a lover of sly british humor and cooking shows this is a winner in both categories.

These people don't just have issues, they have subscriptions.

My friend introduced this show to me yesterday, and I found tonnes of them on YouTube.

I don't think I'll be sleeping tonight... I'll be watching Posh Nosh.

"We make our own stock but by all means buy stock cubes if you have no self esteem"

If you appreciate Posh Nosh go to Youtube and do a search for a sushi etiquette video which runs just over 8 minutes. It's Japanese Posh Nosh and is hysterical.

I watched one on You Tube about childrens birthday parties and it was very funny. I notice though in the user comments that somebody has posted "Did anybody get the joke about the chocolate David?" I will admit to not being the sharpest tool in the shed so, was there a joke in that comment that I didn't pick up on?
