Doing a Mother-Daughter matinee - Mary Poppins - with 20 year old daughter (MP was our fav movie!) Any lunch suggestions? Don't want to go to a kiddie or touristy place. Thanks and Happy New Year!

It would have been helpful if you had indicated cuisine preferences and budget level. That said, here some options (keeping in mind that, since the Times Square/Theater District is a very tourist-intensive part of town, some may be dining at the tables near yours):

dbBistro Moderne, on 44th St., b/t 5th & 6th Avs., is 4-star chef Daniel Boulud's upscale take on French bistro cuisine.

Westbank Cafe, on 42nd St., b/t 9th & 10th Av., serves New American cuisine.

Marseille, the French/Mediterranean brasserie, is on the corner of 9th Av. & 44th St.

    Cascina, on 9th Av., b/t 45th & 46th Sts., for Italian food.
