Birthday dinner for my wife (non meat eater) one day notice?

Nycatfan Dec 26, 2006 07:34 PM

I have less than 24 hours to choose a place to eat. Please help with restaurants in Manhattan. Hint: she loves seafood but I am not looking for the usual suspects. Any help is much appreciated.

my wife is a veggie...so I can sympathize...Po and Otto Inoteca and Il Mulino (italian)...Le Bernardin and La Cote Basque (french/seafood) are what I'd recommend for a bday dinner...Otto may be easiest to get a resv

If the two of you like Indian food, Devi's cuisine is superb, and there are some wonderful fish dishes on the menu, as well as many vegetarian options. Presuming you are a carnivore, the tandoor-grilled lamb chops are not to be missed. The space on two levels has unusual, elegant decor. For coziness, ask to be seated in one of the curtained alcoves at the rear of the main dining room or upstairs on the balcony. Overall, an excellent place to celebrate a special occasion.

I'd go for Otto or Gramercy tavern...both good options for those who do not eat meat.

Il Giglio is similar to Il Mulino and easier to get into. Balthazar has fish and a delicious pasta.
