New Year's in Madrid - dinner suggestions

Going to be in Madrid on New Year's Eve. I've never been there and have no idea what to expect. I'd like to make a reservation for dinner - the restaurant does not need to be Spanish cuisine, but I do want something delicious and special. Would like to spend up to 75 Euro on dinner for two (no drinks included).

Thanks for the suggestions! Phone numbers or any contact information (like an address) would be much appreciated!

  1. New Years is quite a blow-out/orgy of food at the upper-echelon spots, so that makes it a bit harder to stay in your budget...

Since you aren't wed to Spanish food--a week ago, I noticed that the restaurant Olsen is having a New Years dinner for 82 Euros (including three or four drinks). This is the Spanish branch of an Argentine Swedish restaurant (don't try to make sense of this). They have a good vodka/aquavit selection. I like their smoked fish and meat. It's right in the center near Plaza Santa Ana (Calle del Prado, 15; tel: 91 429 36 59), which would be a good starting point for further debauchery. Might be a good option (unless you are put off by modernillos).

    Here's their English language website:
