Good wine store? Hollywood Silverlake Los Feliz area?
Hi, SF Chowhound here.
I'm here visiting family in Los Feliz area and I'm tasked with buying some wine for Christmas dinner and don't know where to go. I'd rather not go to Trader Joe's, and no BevMo here.
I'd appreciate any tips for good wine stores with reasonable prices.
Thanks!

Forgot to mention, there is BevMO here. The closest one I know of is in Hollywood at Santa Monica and La Brea. There's a couple in the Valley, might be on in Pasadena.

My family drank GREAT wine and champagne cocktails this holiday. We are so happy to have learned of Topline! Although not huge, the selection was very good. It seemed to me that they select what to carry so it's easy for them to help find something good for all tastes. And the prices are very fair. I was happy to find Duckhorn Merlot there (39.99).
We bought mostly Pinot Noir, some Merlot, and a few Cabs-- we were thrilled with everything we got. Mike was very helpful in giving recs and I appreciated how he helped me choose champagne good enough for champagne cocktails vs. top line champagne.
Thanks for this tip!! -- it will definitely be our go to place now for wine.

Was in Topline yesterday, and bought 3 more bottles of the Gamba Zinfandel. If you like a voluptuous, full mouth of Zinfandel, this is truly wonderful. Everyone I have offered a glass to has come up with the "Wow" factor. Not a handout, meaning $29.95, yet oh so jammy, as opposed to the lean-style favored by many. They have about 25% of the entire production, have had it in stock for a while, yet I am so glad it is still around. Having a bottle tonight with lamb chops, Cal/Texas A&M, and two friends.

2nd on topline. best prices, sometimes outstanding values, but try to ask mike for assistance. [he's the one you will likely hear talking to several other patrons when you enter].
an old link, still valid:

Topline Wine & Liquor at 4718 San Fernando Road, Glendale (in a small group of buildings that looks like an industrial park - just west/south of Riverdale) has a fantastic selection of wine - and all kinds of booze - at much cheaper prices than Silverlake Wines (better, broader selection too) - the prices are about the same as at Beverages & More. The people who work there are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. It's about five to ten minutes from Los Feliz, so it's sort of in your specified area. (Take Los Feliz Blvd. to San Fernando Rd, turn left, if you get to Riverdale you've missed one entrance to the parking lot - turn right on Riverdale and go in through the first driveway on the right - it's straight ahead.) A little hard to find, but well worth it.

Topline and Silverlake Wine Store are my two "go to" places in the neighborhood. Topline has liquor, too, and everything is discounted (it's kind of like a mini-warehouse store). Silverlake Wine Store's prices are good as well, and they have a lot of very interesting wines from small producers all over Europe, in addition to CA and other places. Topline closes early -- at 5 p.m., while Silverlake wine is open late (until at least 9 or 10).

Silver Lake Wine Store; a small shop with some excellent choices and very helpful staff. On Glendale, near the intersection with Silverlake Blvd.
