25 years ago when I was in high school in Texas, Taco Bueno was the place to go to get drive through Mexican food. Although we had a Taco Bell in town, we never went unless somebody absolutely insisted upon it. Now after patiently waiting 25 years, we are finally getting a Taco Bueno in Missouri. I guess my question is: am I going to be disappointed after all these years? Has the quality gone downhill like Taco Bell has? Do they still try to make their food fresh?

I can't gaurantee that you won't be dissapointed, as I'm only as old as Beuno itself, but to me Bell is still far poorer than Beuno. I think that the quality has diminished a little bit since I was in high school, but I still love it. I'm glad to hear that Beuno is expanding.

It's still as good as it ever was. I go back to Abilene every other year or so, and still enjoy Bueno. The one in Georgetown near Round Rock burned down years ago and am waiting for them to build one here in RR. It's been delayed for a year and can't hardly wait for this one to be built and open for business. Try the Cheescake burritos, they knock your socks off. Every time Bell make something I like, they get rid of it, and its not as good either.

Whoa, I started to reply and then noticed the original post/question was almost a year old.
IMHO, Taco Bueno's better for dining in (because their emphasis on combos, and the sauce bar, and the refills of Coke products), Taco Bell's better to go (better individual item prices, sauce in convenient packets with clever sayings, I don't like Pepsi products, etc.)
Really, from an overall menu standpoint, Taco Bell has a more varied menu and more "special items" on the menu. Taco Bueno does have tortilla soup and tamales and cheesecake chimis, though.

I have never eaten at Taco Bueno (we don't have themin LA). I have been eatin Taco Bell my whole life (not as much in the last few years). I usually go once every 4 to 6 months. and after every recent visit (last 2 to 5 years) I realize why I haven't been for so long. It's horrible now. When I was a kid going to Taco Bell was like going to Mac Donald's (just fun for a kid) but I do remember the quality being far superior to what it is now (probably quality dropped when they became part of the Pepsi corp)? I won't be going back anytime soon.

There is absolutely no comparison between Taco Bueno and Taco Bell. Bueno kicks the snot out of Taco Bell. Growing up in Dallas, I think I took it for granted. Now I live in Florida and I would kill to have Taco Bueno and Taco Cabana out here.
