Seems like recently I saw something about a new place near Dolores- I know this is vague, but can any living on the Pennisula help me?

Do you mean the new Italian spot Cantinetta Luca on Dolores St. Between Ocean and 7th?

Cermaxm66- Thanks, that is it! I knew when I saw the name I would remember. Have you been there- food, atmosphere, service???

We ate ate Cantineeta Luca on 12/23/06 based on reviews here at Chowhound.

        The positives:

        Great Service

Nice ambiance (although seating is a little too close to the other diners)

        The negatives:

The food was underwhelming. We started with the tuna carpaccio and the beet salad. The tuna was very thin and not much of it was on the plate and it was a bit bland. The beet salad turned out to be 3 or 4 small pieces of beets covered with bitter greens. Expecting more beets.

The salume choice was an extremely tiny portion; but, tasted great.

The pumpkin ravioli, again, a very small portion, maybe 5 raviolis, was delicious. It had a sage butter sauce that was divine; but, an odd crunchiness on top.

The margharite pizza was actually larger than expected, but it was nothing we would ever order again. Good, but not great.

I think this would be a great restaurant if you happen to order the right dishes. We had asked our server for the most popular dishes and that didn't seem to help (except for the ravioli)

My husband and I just ate there a week ago. I was excited to try it but ended up being underwhelmed by the food and overwhelmed by the service (too much frou-frou and hovering). Given that there are so many great restaurants in the area, I would never go back.

          Try Passionfish in PG!

I'm here just trying to figure out why some people refer others to passionfish? I am personally not impressed, but would love to know how it impresses others. Tell me.
