fresh dungeness crab anywhere?

edgrimley Dec 21, 2006 06:29 PM

From time to time I find previously frozen dungeness crab at places like Whole Foods. But there's nothing like fresh.

Has anyone seen any of the big fellas around in tanks anywhere?

Chinatown is a possibility, I suppose...

We buy them all the time at the Super 88 markets and at James Hook and Sons in Boston.

      First, What's your location?
If you are in Ct., in New Haven on Orange St. there's a store called J Mart, they have a live tank in the back usually with Dungeness crabs, Lobsters and Fish. They're phone number is 203-782-1234.
      Good Luck

BTW, thanks for the recommendations. James Hook came through like a charm. Crabs turned out great. I don't know why I every bought them precooked and cracked before, when I could. Fresh is best.

Super 88 in Malden had them this weekend.
