Good for Groups - downtown

Planning a birthday dinner and looking for something moderately priced, hip and fun, and located anywhere downtown. Ideas?

  1. Depends what your definition of moderately priced is...I'd suggest The Stanton Social, but it can get expensive depending on how much you order

    1. Mai House in Tribeca. I just ate there again and I think the food is getting more even and better. It's still a new restaurant in the neighborhood, but is quite hip (or tries to be) and seems to be the new place to be seen by neighborhoodie people.

      1. You might want to check out K restaurant on West Broadway in Soho. It across from Cipriani's and just opened. It's Japanese with a sushi bar and has a nice retro feel even though the decor is pretty modern. I've been there a couple of times (live in the neighborhood) and haven't been disappointed. The drawback is that they do not have a liquor license but you should be able to bring your own which would save a ton of money. I had my girlfriends birthday party there a couple of weeks ago and we brought in our own bar. They also told me that they are doing private Christmas parties so you may be able to book this entire place for yours.

        1. I like Crispo in Chelsea. If you have alot of ppl, you can even get the back room for a private dinner. Also Pipa in the flatiron is yummy too and festive. I also attended a birthday party at this place called Sala 51 or something like that in flatiron. Tapas again and very good.

          1. Agave (Southwestern) does well with groups. It's got great drinks, big tables, not too loud and good food. It's also fairly reasonable (most entrees just under $20)
