My brother will be in Napa for his 40th birthday and he has a reservation at FR.
I'm tempted to call the restaurant and have them charge the meal to my card except I might be in over my head.
I keep hearing $400 per person. Is that what it is?
I doubt they would drink more than a bottle or two of moderately-priced (by comparison) wine with dinner.

What's your credut limit? Seriously, I had lunch there last week and it was fabulous. They are subtly insistent on ordering wine and their prices are steep on the wine as well as food. A glass of Bandol Rose was $12, a bottle of Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc was about $70. Our lunch was $640. Horrifying but worth it for a one time experience. Since prices for the menus are the same at lunch and dinner, I think the diffences might be drinks, pricier wines, coffee service etc. Don't forget the blanket 19% service charge and tax.

Sales tax in Sonoma County is 7.5%, and is applied to the service charge, so together they add 28% to the base prices.

I had dinner there 10 plus years ago and sharing one expensive bottle of Chardonnay cost the two of us over $500 for dinner and the wine. I think the wine was a couple of hundred dollars. Is there a website where you can check menus? It will cost a bundle no matter what. Hope everyone has a good time.

Current prices are $175 per person for all basic menu options lunch or dinner plus service and tax, or ~ $225. Wine and any add-ons (like foie gras) are extra. I think the wine pairing was $105, so two people with wine and foie gras could be as much as $800. So your range of exposure is about $450 to $800. If diners order expensive bottles of wine, it could go higher.
