Peirogis in Boston?

Does anyone know of a place within a reasonable distance of Boston (not Chicopee) that sells really good hand made pierogi? Like handmade by church ladies in the basement style?

I would be forever grateful. It would mean a much less stressful Christmas Eve for me and my family. We're not at the point yet where making them is "fun." Although my daughter reading over my shoulder is now telling me she thinks it's fun. She says that now....

Thank you.

Thank you, all. I will check out Cafe Polonia. I called them and they seem very nice. And I do agree that Mrs. T's is just fine, but my family would bum out on Mrs. T's for Christmas Eve.

Although I am a person of Polish heritage, I am not afraid to say that, when properly doctored with onions and butter, Mrs. T's can serve as a reasonable substitute for homemade.

Polonia, Polonia, Polonia, Polonia, Polonia, Polonia.

They were actually giving them out as samples at Costco in Everett on Sun. I believe they were in the frozen section. I'm no expert on pierogis, but I thought they tasted pretty darn good.

I believe that the perogies at Cafe Polonia are made in New York and shipped up...that's what someone at the store told me a few years ago.

There are some Polish places in Worcester on Millbury and Water Sts. that may have them (Golum or something like that) and there is a deli on Pulaski Blvd in Bellingham. Not Boston but closer than Chicopee.

Thanks for the suggestions. Has anyone tried the pierogis from Baltic Deli and Cafe Polonia?

Yes, I've had the pierogis at the restaurant and they are very good- certainly the best you'll find in the Boston area.

You can check Baltic Deli (632 Dorchester Ave, Boston), which is owned by the same people as Polonia. I don't recall if there are hand-made peirogis, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

And they have lots of other fun Polish foods.

I've seen them in the Butcherie in Brookline.
