Any suggestions for great food and atmosphere for NY's Eve in Little Italy?

There have been threads on Little Italy. The general opinion is that it's not a good idea to eat Italian food there, though some hounds report that if you can't get out of it, there are a few places that are satisfactory (some hounds think no Italian restaurant in Little Italy is satisfactory). Bianca, on Bleecker between Bowery and Elizabeth, is often suggested as a good Italian restaurant that's just a bit north of Little Italy. There are various other Italian restaurants in the East and West Village that often get recommended here.
