    Is Green Temple (in Redondo) or The Spot (in Hermosa) close enough? I usually stick to those places and House of Vege when I'm in that area.

    They are both kinda boring 70s style veg food, but I really like the
    "Dear Bubba" at The Spot (it's brown rice, delicious greens, pinto beans, and cornbread w/ their tofu sauce and some salsa on top) - sounds boring, but it's really good. Green Temple has a very similar dish called "Bowl of Greens".

    http://www.vegparadise.com/restaurant... also mentions some other places in the sobay area....

    * Casa de Tree Organic Bakery and Vegan Deli - (wow -I'm going to have to try this one out

    )

    * All Indian Sweets and Snacks (Vegetarian and Vegan)

    They also mention Happy Veggie (another veggie Chinese place) in Redondo.

    btw, I love House of Vege, though it doesn't seem quite as good as it used to be... maybe I'm just pickier.

      i agree about house of vege.
      it seems a lot less flavorful than it used to be.
      also, now that i've had many of the same dishes at happy family, house of vege suffers by comparison.

        yes, as a vegan, i would not recommend house of vege. not impressive. i don't think green temple is "70s." though not super inventive, it's solid. i was wondering about happy veggie. i'll have to give that a go.

        Just a heads up - I checked out Casa de Tree (in the same shopping center as Whole Foods in Torrance). Definitely recommend checking it out if you're still looking for stuff to try.

        There is a lovely small Indian Sweets place (sounds like the one mentioned above as being on Hawthorne but I do not recall one there...) on Sepulveda Blvd. about 2 blocks west of Hawthorne on the south side of the street. They have a few tables to eat inside and it is very tasty and fresh. The house made chutney (tamarind & cilantro) served w/ meals I like alot.
