  1. http://www.basi-italia.com/ Not always the greatest service in the world, but the food makes up for it.

    1. I like La Tavola on Riverside Drive in NW Columbus - very creative Italian food and a nice atmosphere:

Also, I've had some great meals recently at Trattoria Roma in Grandview Heights:

You might want to call ahead to make sure they're open on Christmas Eve.

      1. are you talking about a feast of the seven fishes? if so i dk.

i am a fan of TRATTORIA ROMA in grandview:

I tried to book a reservation but they are full on the 24 th any other suggestions? or do u have a hook to get in?

oh man i am sorry to hear that you got closed out. tell'em to put you on the wait list for sure, maybe someone will cancel. hmm, my only other hook suggestion is to walk in right when they open for dinner, they have some walk-in seating. that would work out.

the menu leans roman, but is really kind of pan-italian.

if you dont want to gamble it looks like you might need to go w/ the other recs, i dk them so well.

also, keep in mind columbus has zero italian presence so finding the feast is out, i dk if you were looking for that but when you said christmas eve of course i assumed ;)

i call and got a resv. at the time i needed, they told me they keep the larger tables for the most part to tel bookings rather then on line, thanks, several other people recommended this place so ill give it a shot.

Hey the food and service was great, one of the specials was a 7 fish dish, of course we ordered that and the chilian sea bass was
great not to menetion some of the other pasta dishes which
we ordered. The mushroon appy was also a great starter.
Thanks for the recommendation, it made our night.

I beg to differ about the Italian presence in Columbus - much of Grandview Heights, Marble Cliff, San Margherita, and other sections were built by Italians - it's just that they have de-centralized and have no one predominant Italian section. As to the feast of seven fishes- many prepare it in their homes.

                  1. re: TMWeddlle

you forgot italian village nabe in the short north too. however, i call bs on it. you would be hard pressed to find any italian folk or presence in the columbus area, at least for the past hundred years.

also, yes of course the feast is made at home, but that does the op no good.

            2. You should try Scali's Ristorante. Down off 70 and 256. Very authentic and very good. It is in a little stripmall, runs perpendicular to 256. They might still have some openings.

              1. sorry. my husband (2nd gen) lives in columbus and I live in pittsburgh...columbus's italian selections are pitiful! the only half decent italian place I have been to is Basi. In citysearch, your #1 italian restaurant is spaghetti warehouse!
