Breakfast Burritos in the Valley/Santa Monica

Looking for a great breakfast burrito in the Valley (preferably near Studio City/Universal City/Toluca Lake/Sherman Oaks) or in Santa Monica. Work in the valley...live in Santa Monica. Any ideas??

  1. I've looked long and hard for breakfast burritos in Santa Monica as well.

I'm not sure if they are on the menu, but they will make one for you at El Texate (it's next to the bowling alley on Pico near Samohi.)

Tacos Por Favor have very good ones. It's across from Memorial Park on Olympic -- I guess it would be Olympic and 14th.

I'm almost positive they make one at Gilbert's El Indio. I haven't had breakfast there in a while, but they must have one. Gilbert's is on Pico, somewhere in the high 20s -- maybe 26th or 28th, something like that. My usual breakfast at Gilbert's was not the burrito.

There is supposed to be a great breakfast burrito (I know someone who drives miles for it) in one of the office buildings on Olympic near the Purdue/Sawtelle area -- but I've never had it. It's just outside Samo anyway.

In Santa Monica, Ocean Park Cafe rocks a good breakfast burrito . . . little hole-in-the-wall opposite the SM Airport on Ocean Park, I think the cross street is 30th??

Ocean Park Cafe is now OP Cafe. Not sure if they still do the breakfast burrito, but I do know that the new cafe has many fewer veggie alternatives. Strange because one would expect the dingy hole-in-the-wall to be veggie-unfriendly and the bright-and-cheery modern West Coast vibe place to be very accomodating, but it seems to be that the opposite is true.

    2. Once upon a time, the little hole in the wall cafeteria next to my old office building in Calabasas on Agoura Rd served great breakfast burritos. Alas, the cafeteria is still there, but Paco is not, and the quality of the breakfast burrito (along with the rest of the food, which wasn't that great to begin with) has gone with it.

      1. Norm's (not the chain we all know and hate) on Magnolia a couple blocks west of Victory has great breakfast burritos.

        1. One of the best breakfast burritos I've had in the last few years was at Cottage Corner on the corner of Victory and Verdugo in Burbank. It's not too far out of the way from Toluca Lake/Studio City. Both the vegetarian and bacon versions are the best and it's always the perfect mix of eggs and potatoes.

Be prepared to wait about 10 minutes, but the line does move fast.

            OK, this is weird.

I work very close to Victory and Verdugo, and I pass that little shack on the corner that advertises breakfast burritos and I go, "Eh, who knows if it's any good."

Now I'm going to have to try it.

It's really popular at my office and among the people I know. They love the Cottage's breakfast burritos...when I get in early enough, the shuttle from the train station to my office always passes by and there's always a line out the door...with that many people, it can't be bad.

By this point I've had them many, many times. I think they put crack cocaine in them, they're that good. Got to get the green hot sauce put in beforehand though. Best BB ever.

          2. Sunny Grill on Venice near Inglewood has a pretty good breakfast burrito.

            1. I like the Breakfast Burrito at this place on Lincoln/Marine on the Venice/SM border...its called George's Burger...basically a greasy spoon but they do nice greasy-bomb breakfasts for cheap.

I really like that place too!

Sorry for reviving a two year old thread, everyone, but I was just looking for a good breakfast burrito, and I was psyched to be reminded of this place.

              2. Jinkys in Sherman Oaks has really good breakfast burritos. Ventura Blvd, 1/4 mile east of Van Nuys Blvd.

                1. These all sound great. Thanks and keep 'em comin'!

                  1. Very good breakfast burritos at NAT's Coffee Shop in Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys on Burbank Blvd.

Also if you dont mind driving to Chatsworth/Canoga Park area FLOOKY'S makes my favorite in all of the Valley.

                    1. Corner Cottage, hands down the best in the Valley.

                      1. Well, it's not "...(preferably near Studio City/Universal City/Toluca Lake/Sherman Oaks) or in Santa Monica," it's not really ideal for carry out, and it's so filling it's really a Brunch Burrito; however the machaca burrito at Carrillo's in Canoga Park will get you started with lots of beef and egg protein with onion, green pepper, etc. I ask them to put in frijoles de olla, (that's whole beans to you) and I am set for the day.

                        1. We weren't crazy about the Corner Cottage bb. The potatoes are really mushy. Also tried Tortas Mexico. That didn't really do it either. Haven't yet tried it, but in the old Law Dogs shack on Sherman Way is a place that has a big ol' sign advertising their bbs. But we can't seem to get there before they stop serving them.

Totally not in Santa Monica nor the Valley is Pepe's on Placentia in Fullerton which serves the perfect, second-to-none, bb. Well worth the drive and they serve it all day 'til closing. You won't be disappointed. Huge, heavy, cheap, cheesy, bacony, with pico de gallo, delicious refried beans, perfect eggs, and properly cooked hash browns.

Larry's Chili Dogs in Burbank. I don't think they open until 9am though.

                          2. Broncos on Moorpark and Woodman has very good breakfast burrito's . They also offer a huge variety of other breakfast dishes.
