  1. Pasquale Bros. on Goodrich in Etobicoke carries canned huitlacoche and some other Mexican specialities. Call them(411) to see if they have any in stock and get directions.

    1. I've never bought it in Kensington, but I would almost guarantee that at least one of the Mexican shops on the east side of Augusta would carry those little cans of huitlacoche.

I especially like the place with steps up to the main part of the store, which sells antojitos in the back. It has a decent selection of dried chiles, too.

      1. I've seen it at Perola on Augusta, wee little tins of it...and as mentioned already, the other shops there are almost sure to have it. Gotta go get me some o' that for the holidays...turkey and huitlacoche.

        1. so i finally made it down to kensington. I was in a hurry so i just checked two stores....the on with the steps up to the main part of the store....latino emporium? and the one next to it
no luck though..........which store is Perola?

          1. any other mexican markets around the city?

Bumping this up...because I am also searching for huitlacoche in the GTA. Did you ever find any, j6p? Anyone else? Tips?

Like canned mushrooms? No? Then skip canned huitlacoche. Just not the same, not even close.

Access to fresh huitlacoche in Canada would be all but impossible. You do the best you can with what you have. The 7 oz. cans of Goya will have to suffice. I admire foodinspace's curiosity.
