Columbia, SC: looking for new restaurants

robfadams Dec 17, 2006 08:24 PM

Please help me pick a (relatively) new restuarant in Columbia, SC. I want to buy a gift certificate for my brother-in-law and his wife to a new restaurant for Christmas. But I live in California... Anyone in the area, please chime in with *any* ideas you might have. Thanks!!

We haven't had a report from anyone about Terra. What did you think?

I went to Terra when it first opened. Very good, but kind of slow service. I posted, but now can't remember when it was.

Thanks for the replies! Had to make a decision sooner than I expected... but I actually went with Terra. Good to have these other options for future reference, too.

There's a new restaurant in West Columbia where Mangia Mangia was - Terra. I've heard it's very good. Safe stand-bys in Columbia are Motor Supply, Blue Marlin, Hennesey's, Hampton Street Vineyard, Mr. Friendly's.

        Maurices's isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Maurice's BBQ is not new, but they have opened up some new places around Columbia. Maurice's is a local Columbia BBQ place. This may not be what you are looking for, but I have been to Maurice's, and it's excellent. Better check if they like BBQ, they may already be tired of Maurice's. Hope this helps choppedonion.com
