Defrost or not?

I have a very simple recipe from epicurious.com for Sausage and Potato Breakfast Casserole but it doesn't say whether to defrost the frozen, shredded, hash browns before layering or not. The reviews on the website didn't answer my question so I'd appreciate
Hounds' input. TIA.

  1. I looked up the recipe. Since it calls for "1 1-pound package frozen shredded hash brown potatoes" and does not add ", defrosted" at end, it seems you can use it frozen. It cooks for 45 minutes mixed w/ warm sausage, so it should cook up fine.

      Thanks for going to the trouble of looking up the recipe. I will use the potatoes frozen, like you and the recipe say. Happy Holidays.
