What happened to Annie Anne's?
I've been enjoying Annie Anne's since they first opened in local farmer's markets when I was in high school. They've grown by leaps and bounds in the past decade or so.
Lately, they've been lousy. I mean - nothing good about them at all. The pretzels themselves have been chewy andthe buttery coating has been flavorless.
I suppose you could argue that they were never actually the best pretzels anyway, but what the heck is going on? They're terrible!
I'm not sure what the story is behind the pretzel quality reduction. I do know that their Auntie Anne Cafe venture was a bust; they closed all of the Lancaster restaurants on the same day (October 16 I think). Too bad because we liked the sandwiches. They were never crowded at dinner time (a plus for us, but probably contributed to the downfall). Don't know if the pretzel problems are related to the Cafe woes.
