After theater / near the Garden?

jpeee Dec 16, 2006 10:41 PM

Any reccos for an after theater dinner in midtown west? I dont want to stay in the theater district, I'm thinking just south of it. American or Italian and reasonably priced would be best for my small group. Thanks and happy holidays!

Seven, on 7th Av., b/t 29th & 30th Sts., serves New American cuisine. I've not eaten there, but Hounds who have say the food's quite good. They're open until midnight.

I've been there a couple times. I think people like it because there's nothing particularly good in the immediate vicinity. I certainly would never go out of my way for the place.

If the OP doesn't mind traveling a little further south, Le Zie, in Chelsea, might be a great choice.

I thought of Biricchino, but they close at 10:00 p.m. Therefore, not an option for post-theater dining.

I would go to Market Cafe on 9th Ave bet 38th and 39th. Totally casual and inexpensive but really good quality.

Market is good. If you're looking for simple, Burgers and Cupcakes has a really yummy turkey burger. Also I went the other night to Aura (on 9th) before a Knicks game and while I wouldn't make a special trip to eat there, the food was nicely spicey and aside from the people I was with who got the incredibly dry lemongrass chicken, everyone was pretty happy.
