New Pizza in Hicksville

Marinellis on Levittown Parkway.

I had feared that this place would not be good when I saw the Ray Bari truck parked i front of it when it was under construction.

I confirmed that suspicion today: The taste is exactly Ray Bari meaning that the sauce has the flavor of Ragu out of the jar and the crust is chewey like white bread.

So much for good pizza within walking distance.

I was in Emilio's in Commack and heard that they are the same owners too. Does the Emilio's owner also own Pasteria? I am not familiar with it.

Did you know that Fanatico is owned by the same folks who own Pasteria?

Fanatico is awesome. Their sicilian is one of the very best on LI...on 107 just south of the northern state in the strip mall.

The new place, Marinelli's, was absolutely the worst pizza I have had in a long time. I also live in the neighborhood and was psyched to get a new pizza place in town. I think "Ragu" is being complimentary - store brand sauce would be more accurate. The cheese was unlike any other I have ever had, in a bad way. It didn't melt like any other cheese I've ever seen on pizza before. Not that I like pizza dripping with oil, but there was NO oil. The crust reminded me of what you said, white bread. It's hard to make bad pizza, but they did.
If they are in business more than six months it will only be a testament that convenience outweighs quality.
My choices for pizza in the area are:
          1. Two Brothers, on Levittown Pkwy and 106
          2. Mama Theresa's on Old Country Road, Westbury.
          3. Pretty much all the rest are tied as far as quality goes.
I'd love to hear of a place in the area that I've passed by that is worth checking out. Someone let me know!

Can't believe I posted this a year ago and did not reply. I despise mama theresas. Poor management and food. Worst non death experience ever for me, Garbage on bth accounts.

Well, looks like Marinellis did not last to long.

We like Vito's pizza, a few blocks away on Carman Avenue...
