Madeleine Bistro in Tarzana is just like a Splichal-style modern California restaurant, except, y'know, vegan.

Follow your heart on Sherman Way.
There is a little cafe in the back of the store.
Go south on Topanga and left at Sherman way it is on the north side of the street.

It has great everything.
I think there is a website as well.

Vegetable Delight (veggie Chinese), on Chatsworth and Zelzah.

Also, Madeleine Bistro in Reseda, and Vinh Loi Tofu in Reseda - totally different places (the first high end, the second pretty hole in the wall) - both recommended.

Woodlands really is pretty excellent and definitely stands out in that area as a veggie dining star. Look up old reports for specifics, but in general, they are southern Indiian (not northern as stated above)... at Woodlands, dosas are a strong option.

Woodlands specializes in northern Indian cuisine, which is entirely vegetarian. Their dosas are top notch.
