My husband and I are taking a night away from the kids. We're looking for a great hotel with a great restaurant. We were thinking Santa Monica, ideally. Any ideas? Thanks.

  1. Either JER-NE at the Ritz in Marina Del Rey or ONE PICO at Shutters in Santa Monica.

One caveat, though. I've been a big fan of ONE PICO in the past, but my most recent experience left me disappointed. Food was not up to par and the service was bordering on perfunctory.

    1. It depends on what atmosphere and food you're looking for.

For more hipster and chic ambience, definitely Whist at the Viceroy (outside is very romantic, under white tents). The food is superb and service perfect.

The same goes for Ocean and Vine at Loews. Inside, you can be seated next to the fire pit, which they light in the evening. Seafood (and its presentation) is innovative and delicious.

If you want something more quiet, Cezanne at Le Merigot. Fine french food and attentive service; huge, comfortable chairs.

      Whatever you choose, report back!
