dinner w/ old friends

so a few of us from high school are getting together again, most likely next thursday and i need a nice place for us ladies. last year we went to otto and had a fabulous time, although it was a long wait but fun nonetheless. i dont live in NY, so i dont have the scoop on the restaurants, but one friend does, and the rest live in the burbs. i was thinking someplace like artisanal, but i dont want tooo expensive since i'm on a tight budget (no more than $50/pp w/ plenty of wine), and of course amazing food. foodwise we're very flexible, and in addition id like a fun, nonpretentious atmosphere. ive also heard good things about celeste, but honestly i have no clue. thanks for all your help!

Artisinal is a good choice. Also check out Alta on west 10th street btw. 5th & 6th. I went there for a "ladies night out" and it was very perfect! We ordered some wine and split the little plates. Very reasonable and a cool atmosphere.

i really like artisinal and it definitely fulfills all the things you are looking for. its really fun with a crowd and the food is excellent. It is more like a bistro so you don't have to get super dressed up and its definitely non pretentious. the staff s great! definitely order a cheese platter for the table!!
