Italian markets in Balto

  • 7

We used to go to Apricella's in Little Italy every week for their prosciutto and now they are no more. Is there any other Italian market in the downtown area that's comparable?

  1. Dipasquale's over in Highlandtown was better. The place that everyone raves about downtown is called Trinacria, not far from Lexington Market. Whole in the wall but a great value.

    1. I was a little disappointed in Trinacria. Not the selection of meats and cheeses that I was expecting and not a very good selection of olive oils in my humble opinion. Will have to check out Dipasquale's soon. Also I heard there is a great place somewhere near Gaithersburg or someplace nearby. Anyone know what I am talking about?

      1. Have you ever given Mastellones (sp?) on Harford Road near Baltimore, a try?
I believe they are owned by Di Pasquales but they operate as a seperate entity..using recipes etc from the former owners!!!

        1. il scailino

          313 s. high st

          go now!!!

          no b.s.

          in little itay.

          owned by italians

          1. Not exactly downtown but the place in Belvedere Square, Cerrullas or something like that!

            1. Trinacria has a certain charm and good sanwiches at lunch (when it can be a very long wait). Prices are very good, but the quality and selection is only in the B range.

Ceriello in Belvedere Sqare has excellent meats, pretty good cheeses, and other Italian stuff. Not cheap, but it has an excellent wine bar--Cru--next door

              1. I'm so sorry to hear that Apicella's has closed! Anyone know why?
