Stamey's BBQ (Greensboro)

carolinadawg Dec 14, 2006 08:24 PM

I went to Stamey's the other night (High Point Road location) and I was very disappointed. I grew up in G'boro and have eaten there a great deal over the past 30 years, so it saddens me to report that it has slipped. The Q had no smoke flavor at all (even a piece of outside brown). If it wasn't for the pile of wood out back I would have sworn it was cooked with electricity. The slaw was bland too, and our waitress was surly beyond all reason.

Maybe it was just an off day, at least I hope so...has anyone else been there recently?

Stamey's has been bumm for a long time. they don't even know what extra brown means--just make the drive to the honeymonk--it's about 25 minutes from stamey high point rd 10-40

I grew up on Stamey's and it has always been a favorite of mine. However, my husband has had less than mediocre meals there in the past few months, and the last time I was there (in March for the ACC)I had a sandwich that didn't do it for me either (at least not like it used to). So sad.

I was there a few months back, same location, and my Q was not good. The service was not great, and I had a peach cobbler that tasted like it came out of a can. And to top it off my sweet tea tasted wattered down, no flavor. I see no need to return. There are better places in that area that I would rather go to.
