John Anthony Wines

Have any of you fellow CH'ers tried any John Anthony wines ? It appears that there are only limited distribution channels some I'm hoping for some info on securing a few bottles. Thanks in advance !

  1. Sorry. Never heard of them. But you can find them here: http://www.javwine.com/

    1. I contacted them and they can mail directly to Vermont. Thanks. This looks like a winery to keep an eye on.

      1. My friends and I purchased 10 cases of the JA Cab which is a really good first effort from Truchard. Good luck finding it?
        Parallel 04 is another favorite.

They will be releasing the new vintage (04 I believe) in February. Until then, I ordered a few bottles Syrah and a late harvest Sauvignon Blanc (hope it's good at $55 for a 375 ml).

I believe the Syrah was $45 plus shipping. I find it more difficult to find excellent Syrahs than excellent Cabs in that price range. I really like the wines from Owen Roe and Sineann as well as the Cab Franc from Keenan (not much out there). We depend on our wine merchants in Vermont to find the good juice and jump on it when it arrives as the quantities are usually pretty small.

I basically focus on Burgs but living in So Cal Cabernets are very popular. One of the most recent Cabs that is very good is Parallel 04'. Give it a try if you can find it on WWW. Wine Searcher

We opened the John Anthony Syrah (2004). It was an excellent, lush wine that was not as spicy as many Syrahs. I hope they succedd as they seem like very nice people.
