Took the suggestion from last week and ordered the Bodum electric tea kettle last week from Cook.com. It arrived today. The kettle can boil 12 C. of water in 5-6 mins. 4-5 C. in about 3 mins. Thanks for the suggestion. This kettle is going to get used for a lot more than tea.

We had an electric kettle that had been a wedding gift but never replaced after a house fire. The kettles that were available in the US at that time were quite expensive. This one was $29.99 + shipping. It is slim and compact being oval in shape and sits close to the counter splashback rather unobtrusively. Great buy and thanks so much for the suggestion. Really!

Sorry it was Cooking.com and is a Bodum 5500 Ibis. Tea and coffee cups are measured as 6 oz. cups. I filled it to the max mark which is indicated as 12 cups, but it is probably 72. It has a scale filter too which in this hardwater limestone area is a big plus.
